Today in class we did the following:

□ 1. Vocabulary words 1 – 20 □ 2. Read Hold the Flag High □ 3. Homework: Vocabulary words 1 – 20 x 3, defs x 1, 5 sentences 1) quarrel: a ground of dispute or complaint

2) waterproof: covered or treated with a material (such as a solution of rubber) to prevent permeation by water

3) debate: a regulated discussion of a proposition between two matched sides

4) enlisted: of, relating to, or constituting the part of a military, naval, or air force below commissioned or warrant officers

5) red-handed: in the act of committing a crime or misdeed

6) loot: goods usually of considerable value taken in war

7) hero: a mythological or legendary figure often of divine descent endowed with great strength or ability

8) rung: a rounded crosspiece between the legs of a chair

9) dazzling: brilliantly or showily bright, colorful, or impressive

10) honor: good name or public esteem

11) ledge: a raised or projecting edge or molding intended to protect or check

12) valor: strength of mind or spirit that enables a person to encounter danger with firmness: personal bravery

13) sagging: to droop, sink, or settle from or as if from pressure or loss of tautness

14) canvas: a firm closely woven cloth used for clothing or paintings

15) wimp: a weak, cowardly, or ineffectual person

16) cavalry: an army component mounted on horseback

17) retreat: an act or process of withdrawing especially from what is difficult, dangerous, or disagreeable

18) victory:  the overcoming of an enemy or antagonist

19) honor: a showing of usually merited respect

20) risks: someone or something that creates or suggests a hazard
