Today in class we did the following:

□ 1. Vocabulary words 1 - 20

□ 2. Read At the Beach

□ 3. Homework: Vocabulary words 1 – 20 x 3, defs x 1, 5 sentences using a key vocabulary word






1) quiver: to shake or move with a slight trembling motion

2) worthy: having sufficient worth or importance

3) drooped: to hang or incline downward

4) grasping: used, designed, or adapted to grasp

5) aquatic: growing or living in or frequenting water

6) marsh: a tract of soft wet land usually characterized by monocotyledons (such as grasses or cattails)

7) laboratory: a place equipped for experimental study in a science or for testing and analysis

8) organism: a living thing  

9) ownership: the state, relation, or fact of being an owner

10) riptide: rip current

11) observations: an act or instance of observing a custom, rule, or law

12) cologne: a perfumed liquid composed of alcohol and fragrant oils

13) vivid: visually clear and bright

14) cultural: of or relating to culture or culturing

15) runway: a paved strip of ground on a landing field for the landing and takeoff of aircraft

16) tortilla espanola: a thin round of unleavened cornmeal or wheat flour bread usually eaten hot with a topping or filling (as of ground meat or cheese)

17) waft: to move or go lightly on or as if on a buoyant medium

18) marbled: describes something made of a strong, polished stone 

19) dumbfounded: to confound briefly and usually with astonishment

20) hermit crabs: a small creature found on the beach that lives in shells
